Finally got to watch @Tallychyck ‘s short Far From the Tree and just had to make fanart for it! The direction of the film was amazing and the themes of this short really broke me.
Also, the mixture of 2D and 3D elements were pretty seamless and worked very well!🦝✨

Thornwall from Maleficent- Matte painting/VFX art direction. I did a 2.5D approach for the wall. I created a few 2D thorn branch cards, and then arranged them in 3D space in Cinema 4D. You can see a render here. I then added lighting, integration, and detailing.
