Actually, no, there are a lot of thoughts, most of them are how the series are telling more about being a human (and being humane) than lots and lots of "serious" films
The design is very heavily influenced by the Halo 2 Anniversary elites and the oddly humanesque elites from "The Duel". Much like the latter, they mostly move just their lower mandibles when they speak, and have muscular lip-like membranes surrounding their hinged mouthparts.

Instead of doing something humane or even remotely sensible about this crisis, the Government instead hires "maggot infestation managers" (MIMs for short) to sweep the "undesirables" into huge pits and bury them alive under concrete.
It's the cheapest and fastest solution.
