did the SSS map for Shion's face. I just used the Base Map and figured out what color I wanted to multiply it with to get it's color in shadow. obviously, I can't just pick one color so I based off the shaded color with the darker parts of the texture.

I was going off these refs they gave me. I figured the nose could be used later as an anchor for when they'd apply texture. This was my first scene with him, so I wasn't thoroughly familiar with the design. I see way more I'd change with my animation besides just the nose

This image started as a very different idea and I thought I would finish the lineart with the manga style that I like to do but I realized that it only works well with color and ended with a very Japanese stamp style, especially with the final grainy texture.

SPEAKING OF TEXTURE, there is a slight texture on materials such as fur and stone, and sort of this “smudgy” texture on art from Gen 4 and Gen 6.

Note the texture on Gigalith and on Whitney’s shirt. I like to use a low opacity multiply layer to apply texture.
