old "2000s" anime 3dcg virtual babes modeled after early 90s anime design sensibilities makes me wonder what happens if they kept going with this route until today?

I feel like modern 20s animu-style 3dcg tends to get diluted with flat cel shade instead of realistic texture...

While I was bored, I did a color concept for Maxine's jacket and jeans. Not the best example of how I do the hair color and texture.
A fan of mine was asking. Typically You want to use this method to create lineart from it and clean up after. I might scrap this method tho.

I fill colors with hard pen and use SAI's airbrush and the paint brush.
Settings are the second edge shape, 0 min size, 50 density, fuzystatic 100 and no texture.

I'm revisiting the other missiles after I made the JDAM, as they could use more details lol.

Fun fact: in the beginning of my career I was *obsessed* with texture. I would add layers upon layers of texture until my laptop, basically as many as my laptop was able to take. 😀
All of these are circa 2019-2020.

This was my first actual animated cleanup test. Thanks to Nick for the lovely animation. I BELIEVE this was the final line brush I created for the project. You can also see the very early test of the "sketchy" xerox lines in practice. Toned down the paint a bit and added texture.

I’ve really been enjoying painting with watercolor on a gesso-primed page. The watercolor sits on the surface of the gesso and can be reactivated and pulled back up with a clean brush, allowing you to work from dark to light. The gesso also gives pencil a nice grainy texture.
