Here we have a Monaka. From what I understand it's sweet red bean paste sandwiched between two thin crisp wafers made from mochi. This one's shaped like a fish.

The sprite is the original. All the promo art is done late in the process when the game is almost done. And if you want to go "VERY" original, then this is the actual concept art that came before the sprites, and it's not particularly pale or thin either.
