Black horns cleaving,
Slit pupils gleaming.
Quill tips sharpened,
narratives darkened.
The pencils & inks are really, really well done in this scene 😳.
Love the use of pitch black, from the background, silhouettes, to the shadows on Mark. Sometimes half his face or his eyes are subsumed. It's a dark scene narratively, in which Mark is very conflicted, so it works.
Congratulations to ID alum, Mirka Hokkanen, for winning the SCBWI #narrativeaward!

Standing with bizarre and hard fought trophies, will forever be my favorite visual narrative. An S-tier worldbuilding tool.
Very powerful warrior energy mixed with a clinging sense of curiosity.
Please share whatever examples you might have! I'd love to see more!
FEB 6: Really, it's a toss-up between Adventure '99 and tri. So I'll talk about both.
'99 was my entry point, kept me hooked with its ongoing narrative, and was probably the main influence in my interest in Japan, its culture, and eventually the language. (1/3)

@CriticalBard @MattHTaylor I'm bringing saucy, sexy content filled with black characters being beautiful and sensual in fantasy settings~! Black characters belong in fantasy and erotic narratives that don't reduce us to a fetish or savages!

"Graphic novels are my favorite way to tell a story. For me it just doesn’t get better than creating a narrative by combining words and pictures." -@johngreenart https://t.co/kmD5nsUjfO
followed closely by (and well-paired with) "quiet, deeply self-motivated protagonist whos actions speak louder than words and who's power is as disturbing as it is inspiring. they warp the narrative to their whims and we are lucky if theyre the good guys"
@M_Rose_Media Ooooh an Art Thread!! My name is Marzi, I do a variety of styles in digital art! I get the most inspiration from narrative storytelling. So my two biggest inspirations is Guillermo Del Toro and Rebecca Sugar. Their movies and shows always inspire me to make something creative
