Series I'll use as an example is JJBA. You had the old OVA adaptations with tight budgeting and small amounts of teams. And now with the anime there's dozens of teams and people for pretty much anything related to designing. 2016 had 0 of this, just 1-2 model sheet per character.

I think that's one of many reasons why Oshii's take on Ghost in the Shell is so compelling and inimitable. It inspired The Matrix and has FAR OUTLASTED it (and its own live action adaptation) in terms of cultural relevancy. Beneath the shell, there's a very sentimental ghost!

Someone really should have done an audio adaptation of the Anderson TV21 stories by now, or at least tried to make them work in the original TV canon. I mean obviously something like the Jupiter monster would be pretty ridiculous, but imagine "Brains is Dead" as a TV story arc!
