Meet Corinthia Thompson:
A doctor that knows no borders, but never stays in one place for too long. She has seen the atrocities her work can produce in the wrong hands, and plans on never letting it happen again...

Despite the modernity of Corinth’s work he was a keen student of art history & on a trip to Holland to view Old Masters he died from pneumonia in 1925. Main pic is Ecce Homo (1925), a self-portrait (1925) & a view of Walchensee (1924)
Where he painted outdoors, Corinth’s brush becomes more fluid & his images more expressionist. In 1912 he painted this balcony scene, as well as this pounding seascape. The following year saw the creation of this lush canvas of a bowling alley
Portraits were central to Corinth’s art & his approach was unique both in how he considered depiction as well as technique. Carl Hagenbeck is shown at his zoo (1911), the Rumpf family is presented in an intense grouping (1901) & a relatively straight forward Prof Meyer (1910)
It was Corinth’s habit to produce a self-portrait every year & these document the increasing emotional intensity of the artist as well as his evolution into an expressionist painter. Here are examples from 1902, 1914 & 1924
Corinth was a gifted portraitist & imbued his subjects with a unique intensity as shown in his portrait of Carl Ludwig Elias (1899). He was also a lover of women & was inspired by the example of Rubens in creating a number of sensual nudes (1899 & 1900) & mythological studies.
Originally keen to be a painter of history, Corinth was advised otherwise & studied in Paris. Despite this international training a streak of German psychological intensity is apparent in his early realism works. Autumn Flowers (1895), a self-portrait (1884) & Diogenes (1891)
