Some ideas to explore, when you are doing your hand studies. 1) Viewing-Angles change how we draw the same shapes. 2) Silhouettes are the "First Read". 3) The details also need to be in perspective. 4) Stretch and Pinch

As much as I once enjoyed math, there is something paradoxical about a line being the shortest distance between 2 imaginary points.

The paradox is that the "shape" of the imaginary points influences the distance.

I like to go the distance by playing with blended shapes.

I both love and hate my style. I need more lines I feel like. But I also love shapes. Idk. Conflicted lol

Love this tradition! I used to do this with gingerbread shapes. I tried making real ones once... apparently no one really likes gingerbread. LOL!

Quickly made a cargo container on wheels I had already planned out for a panel, but re-did it with these new primitive shapes.

I like how you can pick whatever color you want for them, and adjust how many lines show up on them to best guide your drawing.

Cloud practice! To the left is the base sketch of the cloud. Feel like the latter two turned out much better, as I changed to working with forms rather than shapes.

Today is Kaleidoscope Day, the birthday of Sir David Brewster, the Scottish scientist who invented the kaleidoscope. This optical toy creates patterns using reflections cast within a slender tube. The patterns themselves inspire artists who work with bright, colorful shapes.

A snippet showing detail of the threaded curves new to Eyes Yonder 4. Curves have been part of Eyes Yonder from the beginning, but in this series they have a more complex interaction with the other shapes.

You can use signed distance functions and a raymarch in 2D space to project onto a surface (as illustrated here with debug shapes). Going to use this method to do a bunch of boolean union, intersect, subtract, etc. to build some random shapes.

From his hair. Gloves and shoes were also less defined shapes. In Partners in Time, body proportions and shapes were adjusted (look at Mario’s head and Luigi’s slightly slimmer body shape for example). You’ll also notice Luigi’s silhouette has high waters. (3/6)
