actually this particular modern sonic pose is funny to me because it's based on a piece of yuji uekawa artwork and you can ABSOLUTELY tell they had to stretch the model so much to get the pose working

hi! im nat and i draw mainly sonic, and even my own stuff. i try to give my sonic art a special kind of edge, with sharp eyes and long quills. im very inspired by uekawa's art. my own stuff is usually pretty round/bubbly. sometimes i write books, but more often i work on games.

And they are certainly similar, in fact I think Uekawa was inspired by Okano for his Sonic redesign. Also, that Okano gave Classic Sonic a look similar to Adventure, for the Sonic 3D Blast art in Japan.

While I don't mind the model sheets, I do agree that this is the intended look for the characters. The CG models were definitely crafted with Yuji Uekawa's artwork in mind, and for that reason, I think these were probably the best 3D interpretation of Sonic's Adventure design.
