The Ace Attorney localization is mostly great but its really funny when they try to convince you that it takes place in America. Maya will be like “Hey Nick! Let’s go get a burger!” meanwhile she looks like this
Localizers are framing it this way because their "work" is being checked against the original source material only to discover a host of unnecessary changes. They have no valid defense & would rather pretend it's harassment instead of translating accurately.
Ey, Tracy drew the original story bible version of Sally Acorn!
This was the earliest version of Sally, being a localized version of the little animal buddy Ricky, in the Sega of America Sonic story bible.
The bow would first be seen in the DC tie-in promotional Sonic 1 comic,- https://t.co/5ZupYsH24r
Boki 传说: 第一章 🧵
Finally! We got the Boki Lore content localized in Chinese!

Reminder that localizers will butcher stuff needlessly and act like their D-tier schlock and shoehorned politics are praise-worthy. They deserve no sympathy.

my man the crabman spent blood and tears to draw succulent monmusu boobies only to get censored by localizer https://t.co/wNOfHNBILh
@KjoLightHunterS Tsuramaki took personal charge over localization for FLCL. IIRC, he personally approved @KariWahlgren as Harahura. He wanted cultural references American audiences could understand that still fit the tone of the series. And it turned out incredibly!
The poor quality of modern localization makes perfect sense once you realize those who are responsible for it hold open contempt for Japanese culture.
Daily Tales Reminder of the Day #376
In the English localization of Destiny PS1, Miktran was changed to Kronos. This was back in 1998 when the English version came out.
16 years later, Xillia 2 came out with a villain named Chronos who's a lot more memorable. 🤭
Seeing a lot of hot takes about Seven Seas' localization of "I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl." I actually read a good bit of it. @gomanga definitely screwed the pooch, but in a different way than folks are contextualizing it as a forced trans inclusion issue.
I always wonder about certain choices in the localization of the "Digimon" series. Below is "Digimon World: Digital Card Arena" in the near end of 2000 in Japan, it would be released in the middle of 2001 and later 2002 in America and Europe respectively.
When localizers and their ardent defenders try to justify nonsensical translation choices:
I heard that localizers pulled some dumb shit and changed (Hiura) who is a boy and made it out as if he’s Transgender when he’s not…
And localizers wonder why people have such a distain when they do things like this…
Manga: “I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend into a Girl”
As you all know i think i turned my childhood friend into a girl Manga was Ruined by Localizers who turned a Femboy Protagonist into a Transgender Girl
Pirate the English Release but if you want to support the Mangaka consider buying the Japanese Release https://t.co/3TDqnhDOi5
This is a glaring contradiction. If localizers were truly trying to translate a work as accurately as possible, they wouldn't be consulting with sensitivity readers for their opinion on what's acceptable, they'd be following the original script.
It's been 13 years since Starfy 5 was localized outside of Japan so have a compilation of doodles
I'll post some other ones I made too
I'm pleased to announce that I served as the localization director (all books), editor (Code 02/03) and translator (Code 04/05) on Memory's Dogma with @sekaiproject!
I hope you all enjoy the long awaited continuation and conclusion to this sci-fi tale!
