Today in 1942, HMCS Oakville, a Flower-class corvette, attacked German sub U-94 with depth charges, guns, and ramming, off the Haitian coast. A boarding party led by SLt Hal Lawrence subdued the crew and rescued survivors before the boat succumbed to her damage, and sunk.
