To be frank, Sonic's 06 render doesn't really extend his quills that much in comparison to a bit of Uekawa's art

It's just the leg length that's been changed, and even then, I ain't gonna complain about that when it makes him look more like, well, a runner

I also think the very early Uekawa artwork for Sonic was also pretty cute, much cooler than he is cute though, in-game from afar, his Dreamcast model looked pretty cute too.
