for people confused, a small tutorial:
1. Set your current color's rgb values to 125 each.
2. Paint bucket your canvas
3. Go to filter > noise > add noise. Use these settings
4. Set layer to overlay and opacity to 10-20%.
5. Ya got some noise.

I actually have 2 lineart layers!! The first one is the normal lineart that’s black and white. I copy that layer and change the color and drop the opacity so it looks more natural. On the layer above I use the add feature to brighten parts of my art.

For practice rendering 3d images, I would just use a plain circle brush (one with opacity settings and one solid) and the blur tool. I think this is the best for practicing the fundamentals. If you can learn to use a plain circle brush, then you can use any brush.
