I had students draw/paint their fears of Insects as part of a study on how insects are represented in various forms of art. They produced some wonderful work, ranging from death to agricultural destruction.

Gorgosaurus colour schemes from art class today. Kinda leaning towards the Wolverine pattern, much more natural I feel.

For the coloration, I looked at a bunch of arboreal reptile species, large and small. It's harder than I thought to give it the loose, splotchy look of reptile coloration without losing the semblance of an actual pattern.

So physics is fun. Watching the way transparent paint flows over the cracks on a slab of slate, changing the momentum and trajectory. Oddly relaxing.
