The creation process for me always starts out with a basic outline of what I want to draw. I create my artwork on Photoshop whilst using a Wacom Tablet to draw my images directly onto the screen. I also use different layers to build my images.

I don’t really shade my work,,, but for coloring I usually go for really strong vibrant colors on the color palette rather than pastel since it gives a better feeling to my thick outlines^^

Honestly wish something like this half-pixel-inclusive style got popular among traditional pixel artists (as well as a similar counterpart for voxel art too).

Here's a copy of 's Madeline and a half-pixel interpretation (I cheated on the outline rules).

Sometimes the smallest things can be a pain. I wanted to do tree platforms with leaves at first, but green on green was too discreet so I had to make the darker colour on the wood palette black to avoid colour clash. Also, do you mind the tree's slight outline???
