Florilegium, or flower books, were compiled as visual explanations of plants, illustrating as many aspects of a flower as possible including its roots and growth. This florilegium is one of the earliest examples, engraved by Flemish designer Adriaen Collaert in Antwerp in 1593.

and the right panel depicts the Virgin and Christ child surrounded by cherubim. The two pieces, originally a diptych, are now separated. The left panel now resides in the Staatliche Museen in Berlin and the right panel is now located at the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
