I think no one cat can read books written by people, but Nightmare can imagine his own stories with pictures he sees and tells them to Dream. Joku (their owner) noticed this and bought him books with pictures for kids.

I may not be familiar with a lot of his work, but his role as Dr.Maruki is one I'll never forget. One of the best written characters ever, matched only by Billy's outstanding performance.
