Plantae tails are considered vital organs and if removed, the body struggles to continue its normal functions and focuses 100% of its energy into regrowing the tail. Much like cutting the top off a tree, it makes them incredibly weak. Most tail removals result in death. https://t.co/zZKby4OTAr

German botanist and entomologist George Dionysius Ehret was born in 1708. He was also a dab hand at illustration, as can be seen in his work of the 1750s 'Plantae and rariores papiliones', a copy of which is housed at the RHS Lindley Library.
