Rembrandt's Selfies: Rockin' Out, Zexyface, Serious Artist
Signaal signaal! It's Rembrandt's birthday! It's a subject on which I am almost speechless. The ambitions he brought to art were so ORIGINAL! He was great, deep, strange, fluent, emotional and - above all - different! No one like him before. No one after. These are my favourites
2/2 Rembrandt's mother. He loved her! Apparently she was also beloved by Sebastian Stosskopf, and it's his day.
Gerband van den Eeckhout, The Last Supper, 1664
Rembrandt'ın bir öğrencisidir.

All great artists drew a lion or two: Rembrandt's lioness devouring a bird combines careful study with vigorous execution, seen especially in the freely-drawn hindquarters. A nice contrast to Rubens's monumental lions, both studies for paintings (Daniel and Samson) #WorldLionDay
National Galleries Scotland is revising the reception of #Rembrandt's (1606–1669) work in Britain through history with an exhibition, illustrating a difficult start in the seventeenth century, but a great success in the eighteenth. Open until 14 October 2018.

Messed around with Rembrandt's species to sketch out a brother and sister who owns a casino together
Clambering urchin emerges wide-eyed into “real” world (Escaping Criticism 1874, Bank of Spain). Artist Pere Borrell del Caso is maybe reminding critics that art can encompass the real & gritty, not just idealisations. Compare Rembrandt's Girl in a Picture Frame (1641, Warsaw)
