had always wanted to take a stab at doing a just-for-fun homage to this X-Men cover. Didn’t realize til now that’s Steranko ! Gulp! The more I work on it, the more I am impressed with his mastery in pose & composition ...

There are quite a few. and are huge influences (besides Steranko) in my approach to storytelling, as i try my best to use layouts and panel disposition, to tell the story.

They are masters.

Here are some examples of what I have done.

70s Trek! Artist Mike Minor's transitional 'Phase II' Enterprise featured in two images. The first (for Mediascene magazine) includes a painting of the Big Three by Jim Steranko. The uniforms look like a funky half-way house between TMP and the 'monster maroons'!

I love Sam Jackson! But I miss the kick ass Steranko/Ennis version of Nick Fury! I hate how movies gotta change comics. Why can't they make an MCU side universe like ULTIMATE was???

RAIDERS O/T LOST ARK started with one image—Zorro leaping from a horse to a truck. The lobby card had caught the eye of young George Lucas; when production on RAIDERS began, Lucas approached Jim Steranko to create a concept painting just like it, setting the tone for the movie.

Happy 81st birthday to the legend Jim Steranko! Steranko made quite a career in comics but also did tons of book covers, magazines, posters, and concept art. He's even a magician! Truly a man that has done it all!
