FROM FRANCE: Ksenia Milicevic was born in Yugoslavia during WWII, her parents were in the resistance. After the war, they worked as diplomats, so Milicevic travelled with them and then for her art studies—rubbing shoulders with Issiakhem and Niemeyer—until settling down in Paris.

in 1976: Zagreb Mid-Air Collison (Yugoslavia). British Airways Flight 476 (Trident) and Inex-Adria Aviopromet Flight 550 (DC-9) collide over Zagreb, all 176 on both planes die. Accident was due to a procedural error by Zagreb ATC, undermanned and poorly equipped at the time.

In 1983, he started serializing his longest and greatest masterpiece: “Stone Flower” featuring the story of the invasion of Yugoslavia by the German Nazi during WW2. It was such a successful story that it has been republished four times in Japan.

My bookshelf left to right: 97. Saga de Vam by Igor Kordey and Vladimir Colin is an epic fantasy story based on a novel by the Romanian writer, Colin. It enjoyed cult status in Yugoslavia, where it was published in black and white & later colored by Kordey for the French market.

Located in current Republika Srpska, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the complex was finished in 1974. Along with historian Dusan Plenča, Hegedušić completed a series of 13 frescoes. Recently restored, it illustrates the fascist occupation of Yugoslavia and the organized resistance to it.
