#SCiPtember Day 4- Apian
SCP-5913 Adventures and Arthropods
SCP-5913-A-1: A female western honey bee (Apis mellifera) known to SCP-5913-B as “Beelia”, which apparently possesses its powers via praying to "The Yellow Queen"
AND I LOVE HER.

Arthromorphs, crawlers which were modified even further until they were made into strange human bugs. They scuttle through all sorts of nooks and crannies, steadily outcompeting the native remaining arthropods and adapting to take over their ecological niches
#Trilobites are a pretty massive group of arthropods that spanned from the early Cambrian to the Permian.. They're so common that they make excellent index fossils, meaning they can be used to date other fossils within their strata. This one is based on the genus Paradoxides!
My favorite martian arthropods in movies. Of course, they're the ONLY martian arthropods in movies, but that doesn't make them any less of a favorite #QuatermassAndThePit #martians #HammerHorror

New paper from Dr. Tom Harvey and collaborator Prof. Nick Butterfield
Anomalocaris was an ancient arthropod active during the early Cambrian era. Apart from its highly abnormal shape, Anomalocaris is famous for being one of the earliest apex predators we currently know of. It's also just a lil guy.

Stumbled upon this wild fossil. Mimetaster hexagonalis was a marrellomorph arthropod, a distant relative of trilobites. This particular specimen was preserved in pyrite in the German Hunsrück Slate.

@zatypique2004 Arthropod Lyla are so good lmao im proud of the simplicity that goes with it
Arthropods were simply enormous. Arthropleura, the giant millipede (up to ~2m long), crosses a fallen trunk. A 70cm scorpion, Pulmonoscorpius, cacthes the small lizard-like Westlothiana. The 1.5m eurypterid Hibbertopterus clumsily crawls onto dry land.
Here, during the Viséan age, Lower Carboniferous, swamps covered the territory that would become Scotland. They were home of unusual giants: arthropods and arborescent lycophytes grew to extraordinary sizes.
I might use the word "giant" a lot in this thread!
