Her heavy bottom physique is actually permanent, due to a failed attempt to remove her powers. Which caused her shape to remain like this. She can inflate even bigger just at will, but she cannot deflate smaller than her default size.

pinkie pie is half pegasai, this gives them an airy quality and a partial ability to interact with clouds. unlike in the show her mane doesnt deflate when they become sad– her entire body becomes discoloured and they lose her "pinkie pie" like qualites
