I forgot close ups, but this was mostly an excuse to draw birds - thought it was cute that zebra finches have the same black eye streaks as Blackquill haha

Brown Hare by Kerry Buck
The natural world features heavily in Kerry's works. Collograph prints of hares, goldfinches, terns and oyster catchers are complimented by stunning original acrylic works of rural scenes.

TIL: In Genshin, the OG chinese calls them sparrows, but the English calls the birds finches. Also this is an emerald finch, but this is because the word 碧 was used which can mean either blue or green depending on context.

Last winter I drew some bullfinches. And now I was asked to continue, so for the 1st time in a year I painted with watercolors!
Well, now is time for the bullfinches. If anyone did not know, in Russian their name literally means "snow bird"

Out early this morning supporting and at a Wildlife Crime Warrant, where the occupant is believed the be trapping wild finches and selling them. We are pleased to say we’ve recovered a number of Wild Goldfinches from the property.

Today for R, for Red Crossbill.

These finches have unusual bills for prying open pine cones to get at the seeds. Why no red on this bird? Because this is a female! Often, birds are named after adult male coloration, which can be very confusing!
