Pokémon Reviews: Spearow to Arbok!
Spearow is definitely an improvement over Pidgey with its more differentiated colour palette and weird scaly belly. It’s more of a bird monster than just a bird and I prefer that for a Pokémon. The feet are neat too! 7/10

Pidgeot, on the other hand, is pretty much just Pidgeotto but bigger. And with longer wings. It’s fine but I don’t find it especially exciting. I prefer Pidgeotto’s three toed feet over the more conventional four toed arrangement of Pidgeot. 5/10, just average.
Pidgeotto is a LOT more interesting with its weird feather crest and predatory habits. It’s equal parts passerine and falcon and I think that’s really neat. It’s also got a great balance of cool factor and believability as a speculative animal. 8/10
Pokémon Reviews: Pidgey to Raticate
Pidgey is the first in a long-running tradition of early game Flying-type Pokemon that are basically just regular birds. Nothing wrong with that, and it’s a competently designed little critter, but it’s pretty unexciting. 5/10
