@superrune @eobet I first played on Mac, which was the VGA version. Only way later did I play the EGA and realize that Purcell’s original portraits are a style match the illustrations on the box. That disparity had confused me for a long time when I only knew the VGA reworks.
The RasterOps 8/24XLi NuBus card is now behaving, but I'm at a loss trying to fix the grayish blacks so I hope a different VGA adapter will help.
Also, soft-shading HD art @ 24bpp brings the Centris 650 to a crawl!
