Before the Tonfa, the Frontier Team was trying to choose what kind of new weapon type they could add to the game. There were many candidates, such as the "Death Scythe" (A giant scythe) and "Chained Sickles" (Kusarigama), but they ultimately ended up going with the Tonfa.
