i have a problem when i paint of jumping immediately to tight and finished, getting stiff, getting stuck with "real" colors so all this experimental stuff i'm trying is pushing me in a lot of difficult ways but it's getting my painting closer to how i actually want to paint

I don't know who needs to hear this, but good art isn't just made in a single pass. Even the most skilled illustrators will build their piece up from a mere sketch or thumbnail.
