Danu ..She was the mother godess of Irish mythology. The Tuatha De Danann were her divine children. They ruled Ireland before the Milesians. Monks wring Irish the Irish sagas from the 5th century down played her role as a godess.

I speculate that Baizhu is holding a dried bottle gourd in his hand to tie in with his medicine and maybe immortality theme? (+ it’s his cons name). The gourd symbolises immortality and good health in Chinese mythology. He’s frail could be his reason for immortality?(1/2)
