Wright was one of the greatest 18th C painters in depicting the scientific & Industrial advances of his time with astonishing vision. Derwent Water (c1795-6), The Alchymist (1795) & Ullswater (1795). If you get the chance visit his work at the Derby Museums @derbymuseums
The Prisoner (1787-90), Vesuvius (c1788), Sir Richard Arkwright (1789-90) & Arkwright’s Cotton Mills (1790s). Wright moved in the same circles as Arkwright. It was Arkwright who championed the factory system & the Spinning Frame & laid the foundations of mass-production
