I think ArtBreeder's splicer AI is actually a bit more ethical- or at least with the character generator it feels like it. You can generate something nice and inspiring, but you definitely have to artistically go in and polish it up. Not good enough to post on its own & claim.

I think the whole @/samdoesarts fanart ting, is just indicative of a wider problem that's commonly found in character designs in general media. We've seen this in games, and in animations. (Disney being a prime example)
