Day 20: Another Style

I went with my friend, 's style! They use lots of gradients to shade rather than cell shading.

I think I could learn to do that so I don't have so many flat areas in my art.

if u don't mind some general thoughts too, I've noticed that pieces that use both like, rendered/'texture' and flat/gradient areas will tend to draw attention to the areas that have like... the least amount of texture/flats? if that makes sense! like with Mucha:

I go to the Photoshop and added gradient overlay and it looks actually pretty good!

Old ref for comparison! My main goals were to make the face less flat and to find a different approach to suit shininess. I also ended up streamlining a couple things. Overall this coloring is heavier on gradients and lighter on painting, smudging and reflections/lens flare.

Clip Studio is so useful!
I moved the pose to the pov that was in my head.
After I sketch over the character and turn off the model for lines.
Colour is as easy as selection tool & clipping mask; lasso + gradients for shading!
Then EFX was white blur on Add (Glow) layer style https://t.co/4ygXr6fq1U

Got done finishing up my first comm! It's 's catgirl in Lyra Heartgoldsoulsilver's outfit! She was a buncha fun to draw! I also was messing around with gradients for backgrounds and made this by accident!
