Hello and welcome to my for today, featuring 点, spot/point!

I always remember this kanji because it looks like a little boat out on the waves, and those are hard to 'spot'. ^_^

Thanks for coming to my today, everynyan! Today I'm featuring 長, long.

I didn't realize this kanji could be used to refer to age or seniority until I started this study. It's pretty neat that way.

Welcome to my everynyan! Today I'm featuring 広, wide. ^_^

Interestingly, it looks like this kanji actually came from the kind of long wall-less hallway you often see in classical Japanese houses.

Hello everynyan! Welcome to my featuring 細, thin!

It feels like most of the last several kanji have all been comparative - 多 many, 少 few, 半 half, 太 thick, and now 細 thin.

Important concepts, to be sure!

Welcome to my everynyan, and thanks for coming! Today's kanji is 太, plump/thick!

It differs from 大, big, by one stroke. As far as I can tell, this primarily refers to 'weight' as opposed to simply being big.

Good evenyan! I'm sorry for the delay, so here's today's 形, shape!

I remember this one because it looks like a torii gate plus cat scratches, so I think of a shapeshifting cat passing through the gate.

Good mornyan!

I had a good sleep last night, and a curious dream about getting ready to play a video game in front of a huge crowd. I remember being very worried I'd forgotten something.

My small cousins be snoozing the Monday away. ^_^

Welcome to my and today I'm featuring 半, half!

This is a really useful kanji that you can use to show lots of relationships (like more than half, less than half, half of something, half of a quantity, etc). ^_^

Thanks for stopping by, またね!

Welcome to my Today I'm featuring 万, ten thousand!

万 is the highest number in traditional Japanese numbers. I'm not sure of the method of counting past it in Japanese, so feel free to explain if you know. ^_^

Good mornyan!

Sam has taken to sleeping on one of my pillows, the one I'm not using. Here he is stretching out a bit after waking up. ^_^

I'll be enjoying this day off and I hope you do too.

Hello and welcome to my Today I'm featuring 少, few/little!

I like how this is 小 with an extra stroke, which subtly changes the meaning. 小 usually refers to "small size", while 少 is usually "small number".

Thanks for stopping by, またね!

Orange cats need good sleep after all. Sleep well also and have good dreams!

Welcome to my corner, featuring 多, many!

This is a fairly simple kanji, being 夕 repeated twice. I'm not certain of the relationship between 夕, evening, and 多, few. Possibly how people stay inside after dark?

Thanks for stopping by, またね!

Here's my update - it's a twofer! Not only did I finish Ascendance of a Bookworm but I also read the book Shadows of Hyperion by Ryk Spoor! More on the latter in a bit, I'm gonna talk about the side stories in Ascendance first.
