Shortly after arriving in Paris, Vincent started painting flower still lifes. Why? To practise using different colours and brushstrokes. He also hoped that the subject would sell well. Which of these three would you like on your wall? Read more: https://t.co/oPBtph18CQ

A great work by Ilya Repin, who painted only from life. His portraits stand out as realistic and life-like, yet they are so far beyond of being photographic (just look at the brushstrokes). Art historians refer to him as the ‘Master of psychological portraits’.

Portrait # 3 is En'ya, my OC. Decided to try a slightly different style of brushstrokes based off of my favorite artist @/demianasche . Also experimented with his eye-color. Which do you prefer, Black or Grey? comment and lmk.

Some detail shots of my latest piece, Darkspire! Something I continually struggle with as a painter is how much detail to include in my pieces. At what point am I applying brushstrokes beyond what are needed to communicate my intentions for the piece?
