THE TWELVE DAYS OF DICKENS’S CHRISTMAS. Day 4. Pip’s Xmas dinner was “the scaly tips of the drumsticks of the fowls” and “those obscure corners of pork of which the pig, when living, had had the least reason to be vain”. #CharlesDickens @Dickens_Society @DickensMuseum @dap1955

Christmas Eve and the very best time to read a Dickens Christmas story.
Illustrations by John Leech for the first edition of Charles Dickens’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1843).
An incredibly dark take on the Dickens classic. I liked it a lot. The f-bombs absolutely added nothing to it though. It takes you out of the setting. I’m not a prude trying to stifle free expression, but it is only there because they could. Restraint can be the better choice.
The perennial fascination with snow at Christmas, and how it's all down to Charles Dickens and the Little Ice Age https://t.co/k6CGmJnolu
It wouldn’t be Christmas without reading Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.’ The first edition was published in 1843 with illustrations by John Leech. The novel can be appreciated on so many levels and covers many social issues of the time. #Victorian #Christmas
Our Christmas Special is here! We discuss Dr. Seuss’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ and where it fits in the legacy of Dickens & Clement Clarke Moore. Plus a dive into the history of Christmas with the Roman Empire & real-life Grinches, the Puritans. https://t.co/0lqp73bCuR

If you think a #Victorian Christmas was about decorated trees, carol singing and all things Dickensian think again. Some of these #Christmas cards are extemely dark and sinister. #ChristmasCards
