I've said this before but it really bothers me that there's a monster based on Smilodon but it's not the one named Fatalis. Fatalis is the dragon. The Smilodon monster is Barioth.

Also, I just learned today that the type species is Smilodon populator and not Smilodon fatalis.

The combat is a simple turn based 4 guys in a line type thing in the DS version but the PS1 has a shallow but rather neat tactical battle system. There's trade-offs to each but the PS1 has english songs as an option and the DS has maps. YMMV but its delightful all the same.
