My dream project as a filmmaker is a live action Evangelion short. It would be set in the show’s universe, a side story set at Euro NERV with Asuka as the main character, before she left for Japan. Setting it at NERV’s Berlin branch would avoid the issue of white washing.

I feel we are just seeing a current trend in a long line of filmmakers taking inspiration or simply ripping off a design that resonated. It has happened a lot throughout monster movie cinema and sometimes we get some cool monsters inspired by iconic designs (and some stinkers).
