My process varies, but in general I train GAN networks on my existing paintings (online or uploaded) and tell the network to use the "style of Jeff Soto”. The results have been amazingly fascinating- good, bad, boring, interesting!

Though many artists are creating and exhibiting GAN artwork, I found that I struggled with the idea of claiming these newly generated images as my own. GAN is a tool that generates imagery based on online visual sources. Is it art? It sure looks like art.

As a traditional painter I found it incredibly fascinating to ‘create' these new images. The playful randomness is like a contemporary form of the surrealist game Exquisite Corpse or books in which you can flip pages individually to create new animals. GAN art is incredibly fun!

約2週間ほど前のレイちゃんと比べると影の付け方が動画見た程度なのと、自分なりに『監督』レイヤーを作って光源だったりを描き込んで、目で理論が見えるようにしたことが良かったのかな？って感じ。
練習しただけあって顔は千里GAN先生の絵に近づきましたね。
