Idk I just imagine it as pieces that click on onto of each other so I tend to saturate or darken the parts where the light doesnt reach. I guess you can get away with more saturation, some highlights depending on how strong the source is. And a textured brush on a lower opacity

the end goal was to get a black and white mask so that when I mix the shaders, I would have a fac input. did the same with the eyelashes too. the shaders were turned into rgb for "darken" instead of mix. why? idk. just found darken to be the most similar with the original texture

I personally like the W-range because they are warm ☀️ and my art tends to have a warm feel. You can use them to darken other colors by layering. So this range is present in almost all of my drawings. An example would be my The Next Second Son variant cover.

Its so weird that riot darkens a skin color for their characters like every other week? How hard is it to pick a color and just stick with it? Like they even did this to an undead literally making him go from white to dark. Also eye color?
