Tell your audience where you’re going. Ever since I read My Father’s Dragon, I’ve been obsessed with maps in stories. When I did my book Big Trouble with Simple Machines, I laid out a map so readers could see the journey ahead!

First assignment for Concept Art course: Do two landscape studies. Find a landscape in Google Maps and try to replicate it. Starting with main shapes, figuring out the correct colors w/o eyedropper tool, and then go for some of the details. Getting close to the detail steps.
