Mine is the played-out trope that says Superman and Batman must fight because of philosophical differences. It’s not even a callback to DKR. It’s a lack of understanding that, at the time, Miller just didn’t care for Superman.

it represents our better understanding of kasio as we reached the end of the game, and maybe our own feelings too.

I think maybe unusually for games we were a happier team at the end than at the start!
