A little workflow glimpse. 👀
I always start with a 2D walk cycle. Once I get the animation I like I use the camera trick with layer style stroke to get my isometric angle right (or any angle). After that it's all about getting the details right (frame by frame).

AfterEffectsを使って水面をゆらゆら動かすテスト。スマホ画面は小さいので揺れを大きくしないと分かりづらいんですが、あまり揺らしすぎると状況的に違和感出てしまうのが悩ましいですねぇ。

Finished the animation for my cactus enemy sprite. It's supposed to be in 60 fps, but After Effects only puts gifs at 50 fps at most.
