Here's an official Pusheen backpack and a "Cute Cat Print Cartoon Backpack".
There's a lot that's off with the second, and yet the key elements immediately scream "Pusheen" - circle eyes, rounded head stripes, etc.
The brown/gray/muted lines in Pusheen art aren't unique to the brand, either. Its fairly common in pastel and "kawaii" themes. Little Twin Stars match Pusheen themes quite a bit.
Each of them have their own identity, and yet a lot of similarities. They use a nearly identical line weight, solid colors, tiny eyes, and simplified, rounded forms.
Pusheen is known for pastel colors and Hello Kitty is often bright, but she has many pallets including pastel.
Ok two bits on the Art Style discourse because I haven't exactly been clear yet on my stance.
There's a difference between lifting someone's style, being inspired, or coincidentally having a similar style.
Let's look at Pusheen and Hello Kitty for example.
