I don't often discuss my thought process wrt composition, but my goals for the higurashi image were: 1) arrange overlays to reflect relationships/events, & 2) potentially guide the eye in one of two paths - either a repeating cycle or one with an abrupt end, with rika at the core

I just realized that I've been using the wrong layer setting to fix the fact that the colors I use for shading often changes the whole base color... shoot. overlay vs hue vs none, why wasn't I using hue before

Shading finished on one guy! I used a greyscale of his color palette to make sure I toned the shadows correctly. second is the orig colors. Next step is the overlay layer to give life to the shading!

thanks for the thread!! i’m pitou and i love bright saturated colours! i tried to pick out pieces that aren’t too pink here because i tend to go ham on the pink overlay in my pieces 😅 but i love all colours!
