I updated my overlay and display and I'm loving it!
The little character at the bottom right is interchangeable depending on the game/thing I'm doing. It's right now set up for Stardew Saturday so that's why my character is my Stardew one.

Oh this is getting interesting! Doing some more research and there's a collision map and a regular tile map for the final rendered sprites to overlay! It looks like the collision map was used to get a Z position of Mario, or some representation of that. Iiiinteresting
