I mean what else am I supposed to do while I wait for folklore?? 🖤🤍 #FolkloreAtMidnight
That's it for another Folklore Thursday 🐉
Today's theme was Animal Folklore! Talking cats, trickster birds, and hellish farm animals - that sort of thing 🐦 🦇
This is @ShanonSinn signing off, wishing you all an epic and outstanding week. Until next time!

And when I felt like I was an old cardigan,
under someone’s bed,
You put me on and said I was your favorite.~ 🤍🤍🤍

#FolkloreThursday It seems that reoccurring animal symbols found in mythologies across Eurasia and North Africa are based on animal agricultural year calendar markers developed from the significant lifecycle events of the animals in question. Examples: https://t.co/pZF1A0e6Ft

My work corresponds with Sumerian figurines of the Goat Bearers. Worshipers would bring tribute to a god either by the live goat or as animal statues. The goat represents the god visually or by association and acts as a substitute for him. @FolkloreThurs #FolkloreThursday
Giving me Holy Ground vibes ❣️ I’M SO EXCITED FOR FOLKLORE

On #FolkloreThursday here’s ‘Gwenhwyfar’ one of my two #barnowl pieces. She’s close to the underworld, bird of death but also rebirth; as Blodauwedd the ‘flower-faced’ bride created for Mathonwy she was cursed to hide her face in daylight. Speak of her quietly and with respect!
In Greco-Roman mythology the peacock tail has the “eyes” of the stars & represents renewal, vision & immortality. Many believed that the peacock had flesh that did not decay after death. In Ancient Rome the bird represented funerals, death, & resurrection. #FolkloreThursday
In Scottish folklore, three swans seen flying together was a sign of an impending national disaster...

There is a #Kitsune #goddess in #JapaneseMythology. Her name was #Inari and she was also the goddess of #food and #rice.

‘Mad as a Hatter’ comes from the 18th & 19th century when hatters used mercury nitrate as part of the process of turning animal fur into felt. The substance caused hallucinations, emotional instability and the desire to have tea with wild animals. @FolkloreThurs #FolkloreThursday
💛 Day 4: Outside World 💚
"It was my first time out in the outside world with Mamizou. I was nervous, but excited to explore in the cool autumn."
Fourth post for #THShipWeek! I wanted to make my own interpretation of disguised Ran-based on her folklore.

Fairy cattle were cows said to have been found on the shores of Luskentyre in Harris, Scorrybreac in Skye, & on the island of Bernera. They were believed to be of no mortal breed, & live under the sea on seaweed. 1/4

#FolkloreThursday I'm a bit reluctant to post this because I'm very fond of bats, so don't try this at home. To see in the darkest night: grease the eyes with the blood of a bat. And: The heart of a bat tied between two pieces of silver, will protect from evil.
