Naitetamaruka / As if I'd cry, by Mizushima Shinji, 1968. Unfortunately not really a doggo manga, but info was sparse, there was a dog on the cover, and this book is hideously rare. I finally found a cheaper beat-up copy. Has a cute Tosa in it, but it's not central to the story.

I'm picking '2001: A Space Odyssey' (1968). Based on Arthur C. Clark's short story 'The Sentinel,' Kubrick created a dreamy masterpiece of science fiction. And I loved HAL's speaking voice.
