Yo what’s up. I’m Dom, visual artist from Akron, OH.

Not a full time artist just yet but hoping to get there one day 🤞🏿.

Medium of choice has been charcoal and doing a lot of things digitally atm. Photorealism is my thing but working towards hyperrealism 😌

Photorealism is boring and was only a thing because cameras weren't invented yet.

Since everyone is posting their own non-photorealistic art here's some examples of my own "degeneracy". 😝

Four attempts at digital art.
1. First time, no reference
2. Used reference (though I relied on it too much and just made a photorealistic digital painting, which is so not me)
3. WIP with reference but not trying to copy photo exactly
4. Most recent, no reference

Let us gamedev brainstorm time

So, for the environment, since I'm getting my stylised UE4 shaders coming to life and now learning the tricks to achieve it, what style of environment do you want to see in PAST FUTURE?
Totally photorealistic or somewhat stylised PBR?

Thanks G... not something I’ve ever tackled yet, but I can get the same sense of static drama and photorealism in oil paints or digitally. 👍🏻

A commission I did for my friend Stephen. This is actually photoreal, he is this beautiful in real life.

i wanted to make a near-photorealistic image for the cover (but i lack the painting skills/time for that) so i used photobashing!!

i dont get to do this very often but it was real fun, as well as slightly terrifying to be able to mix these totally unrelated things

Throwback to that time in sophomore year when I painted a photorealistic frog and then rocks somehow and then never did anything as good as that again,,,I want the energy that 16 year old me had

Here is a great example of Realism vs Photorealism you can see the difference, if you can't let me explain: the two on top is trying to capture the actual struggles of the poor while the other two are just trying to recreate a photo image.

Some photorealistic studies I did a while ago.
I think that I'm arguably better at realism than at stylizing, but I honestly don't enjoy it nearly as much. I just wish people would stop assuming I draw OC stuff bc I can't "do better" (read, draw realistically).
