I just wanted to have some fun with one of my favorite space theme ideas, and this is where it led me!

i am not the best at above water but !! Id say a good way to do it is a lot of strokes of dark and base color, layering it til it starts to resemble that lik pokey peaky part of water ripples

and at the top of those water ripples is white light! And if smth is (1/2)

here's a close up of how the tool sketches with strokes, I like layering them and then when colouring, setting the sketch to an overlay or multiply. It gives it some good depth.

Finding the perfect Romana image was tricky, until I found this one from Full Circle - in terrible quality. The finished result required tons of layering and colouring to create something new. Six months on and I'm pretty amazed that it actually worked..!

Ok so I’m finally done with this piece and I am not happy with how the colors turned out but hey I learned a bit more about how to use markers and how marker paper really sucks at layering colors. The pigment bunches up on top of the paper.

if you're doing it digitally, layering progressively lighter shades of gold in the direction of the shine, starting at a dark shade
i use an airbrush tool, then blur
good enough for my own purposes but i'm sure there are more in-depth ways of doing it
