Here's a wip of my last drawing. Process in a nutshell shown.

1st panel is a clean outline
2nd is a flat color
3rd is shading, gradient, highlighting, background
4th is other details such as lighting, filter, texture, saturate, etc. (finished)

These were made using the same node set up. It's basically a noise texture with a color ramp. But the noise texture is being distorted by an other noise texture, so it gives those nice chunky bits.

It depends on the end goal for the piece, but I typically do a rougher sketch, clean sketch/lines, and then base flats. I’ll usually adjust the lines at this point before building the layers of paint, texture, shading, and lighting.

Also made a quick edit with a stronger wooden texture, makes them look more inanimate 🪓

I really love the idea of teifling horns growing over time. Especially with Red, a druid, I plan on having his horns growing, taking on a bark-like texture, and starting to try and fill in the wound/gap he has with flowers

At a mind boggling ~4k tris and a massive 256 x 256 texture, I'd say windwaker style cartoon Zelda is mostly complete now 😅🤣

Hi I’m Krista, I am an illustrator in grad school. I work digitally in a painterly style, with careful brush strokes, texture, and vibrant colors. I am currently exploring animation as part of my thesis work.

In the Dunes. 800 x 800 mixed media on canvas. One from my current Time and Tide series. Lots of texture, dribbles and subtle colouring in this one, which will be exhibited this month.

SQUID / Doom / Vanilla / 1994-1995 / E1M1 / by anonymous author

This is the wild side of early user levels. It has a corridor-sized door, large chambers carpeted with the teleporter texture, and monsters sectioned off by way of torch walls. Spicy!

I love Dominion Tank Police, so to practice my shiny clothing texture, I drew the Puma Sisters. I like their smug faces in the show.

Our Christmas exhibition has something for everyone. Including the gorgeously atmospheric 'Transition' by Senja Brendon - and a fantastic selection of her new work. It's worth visiting just to see her subtle execution of texture, movement and light.

Gian Galang.
Gian's one of my favorite artists. another guy with talent so supreme a scouter cant register it. one of a kind style, use of texture, and composition. he also has no problem doing stunning full scale wall murals.
